Savings Stories - How Emma saved £853 with Nous

Emma, 54, is a senior people advisor, who lives in a two-bed terraced house in Whitston, Merseyside, with one of her sons, 23. She saved £853 on her bills after her company, IAG Loyalty, offered her Nous membership.

How did you manage your bills before you joined Nous?

Once I'd set up a direct debit I just forgot about it. Having to find the time to sit down and look for alternative providers put me off dealing with it. I see my friends and family quite a lot and I work full time. Once I've finished working for the night, sitting down and sorting out my bills isn’t at the top of my list.

How has the cost of living crisis affected you and your family?

It’s been hard. I’ve had to put my son’s housekeeping up which he’s not very happy about. My savings have taken a bit of a battering if I'm honest. At the end of the month I'm dipping into my savings.

The gas and electricity have gone up and so has the wifi. The price of that I find ridiculous. They would rather let loyal customers go than offer a decent package like they do for a new customer, which really annoys me. And my wifi has started dropping so I’ve had to complain about how bad it is.

What did you think when you heard that your company was offering you Nous membership?

This kind of help is more important than ever with the environment that we’re living in at the moment. We got cost of living payments too when bills initially started rocketing, and they are a very caring employer

I got the demo for Nous and I thought that it was really good. It was a no brainer to sign up when it was free for me. The company’s benefits package has been enhanced generally, and it’s good to know that they’re looking out for us. I’ve been with the business for 25 years and their benefits have really improved.

Were you surprised by how much money Nous managed to save you?

I was amazed by how much I could save just on broadband and mobile. The money will go towards a holiday. I’m going to treat my mum and dad next year. It’s their diamond wedding anniversary so myself and some family members are going to take them away to Dubrovnik.

What are some of the key benefits of being a Nous member?

The time saving is a big thing, and so is knowing that there’s someone there to give me a nudge when I need a new contract. The cost and savings are a big driver too. It’s always such a pain getting through to suppliers on the phone and I always seem to get cut off. Not having those frustrations is really important. Nous is like a one-stop shop for your bills that does all the legwork for you to get you the best deal.
